The Holcomb Bench - Holcomb Gardens, Butler University

This is the first 3d Synth I've created from this outing today, and it came out very nicely.
Microsoft's Image Composite Editor didn't do quite so well.

This is promising though... the other things I took photos of were a lot more involved- such as a pedestrian bridge across a canal and a water fall. Not sure when I'll get those posted.

  1. Microsoft ICE is for standing in one spot and rotating e.g. panoramas. In this image set you've moved a considerable amount, so it's more appropriate as a synth.

  2. You'll observe that I did do i as a synth.

I like to see how different software will respond when challenged. That way I know how it will act, not how its alleged or purported to.

  3. This approach has served me quite delightfully well, ever since I shot medium format B&W when I was an aspiring Ansel Adams.

In my darkroom, I was aware of how things were supposed to work, but I was never happy or satisfied until I had pushed the equipment or technique to the point of failure.

Only by knowing where the point of failure is can true success be achieved.
